Job Path’s Supported Living program takes an innovative approach by matching people in our programs with Live-In Companion. By sharing a home, Live-In Companions provide consistent and stable support to people with disabilities. Job Path is seeking a Live-In Caregiver to be a roommate to two men who live in a three-bedroom apartment in Forest Hills, Queens.

The two men would like to share their home with a Live-In companion who will help to create and maintain a comfortable and satisfying home life, as well as to ensure their health and safety. The best candidate would have a warm and energetic approach, as the men like engaging in fun and creative activities inside and outside of the home. 

Tentative start date of this position is June 1, 2024.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:

  • Assisting the individuals being supported with daily activities including but not limited to meal preparation, getting ready in the mornings, evening assistance with next day preparation, household chores. 
  • Assisting the men to foster their friendship by doing activities together, including preparing dinner, going to the gym, and finding common interests to explore.                 
  • Assisting the individuals being supported in exploring and becoming more involved in his community and developing relationships and community connections.
  • Maintain positive relationships and frequent communication with the individuals’ family, circle members and other service providers.
  • Administrative duties such as completing case notes, saving and itemizing receipts, petty cash reconciliation, billing, monitoring medication intake, and managing their weekly schedule with community activities.

Qualifications:

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • At least one year work experience in social services/other experience supporting people with disabilities.
  • Ability to prepare healthy meals
  • Basic computer skills (e-mail, billing, timesheet entry)
  • Experience in activity development

Salary:   $38,800.06 annual salary plus FREE RENT with a private room and one shared bathroom; this is a full time position. Non-exempt.
