Job Path is helping a young, artistic man with developmental disabilities find a compatible live-in companion. They will share a three-bedroom apartment in a very nice neighborhood located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. He is seeking a live-in companion to help create and maintain a comfortable and satisfying home life, as well as to ensure his health and safety. The best candidate would have a warm and gentle energy and an artistic or creative background, as the individual being supported is an artist himself.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following tasks:
- Assisting the individual being supported with laundry, shopping, meal preparation, budgeting, and other daily activities. Daily activities include: helping him as he gets ready in the morning, assisting in accomplishing household tasks, assisting in making dinner, and assisting in next day preparation.
- To assist him in exploring and becoming more involved in his community and developing relationships and community connections.
- Find and develop outlets for his artistic interests and abilities.
- Maintain positive relationships and frequent communication with his family, circle members and other service providers.
- Administrative duties such as completing case notes, saving and itemizing receipts, petty cash reconciliation, billing, monitoring medication intake, and managing their weekly schedule with community activities.
Qualifications: High school degree and at least one year work experience in social services/other experience supporting people with disabilities.
Salary: $34,200 annual salary plus free rent with a private room and one shared bathroom; this is a full time position. Non-exempt.
